Topic: Using Analyse-it > Preparing data in Excel > Defining variables > Setting measurement scale for a variable

Setting measurement scale

By default Analyse-it assumes all variables are measured on a continuous scale. In most cases the default suffices and saves from having to set the measurement scale for each variable, but scale will need to be set for nominal or ordinal variables.

To view or change the measurement scale of a variable:

  1. Select a cell in the range containing the variable.
  2. Click Variable on the Analyse-it tab/toolbar to show the Variable properties dialog box.
  3. Select None (the variable will be unavailable in analysis), Nominal, Ordinal or Continuous to set the Measurement scale.
  4. Click OK.
