Excluding outliers

Observations deemed to be outliers can be excluded from analysis by enclosing the value in square brackets, or included again by removing the square brackets surrounding the value. Analyse-it provides a simple way to mark or unmark an observation as an outlier. We rtecommend attaching a Note/Comment to cells containing outliers to explain why they are excluded.

To mark (or unmark) an observation as an outlier:

  1. Select the Excel cell containing the observation to mark (or unmark) as an outlier.
  2. Click Mark/Unmark outlier on the Analyse-it tab/toolbar.
  3. The observation will be marked/unmarked as an outlier.
